Iris Lark     Iris trudges into the clinic, clearly tired, but she didn't get a lot of sleep. She's lending a shoulder to Jackie, and the pair of them look as if they've seen a better day. Iris guides Jackie to one of the empty beds and helps her up with a soft grunt. "That was a walk, you were right." She says, grinning at her friend. "Maybe I need a car too."
Jacqueline Walking with Iris, Jackie also looks like she's had better mornings: She's perspiring, her face is pale, and her steps are slow, with little of their usual lightness. But she manages a smile once she's seated on the bed, sighing in relief. "It was... sometimes I hate being right. Thanks so much, Doc Iris, for the help and your pain pills. I don't think I could've gotten out of bed this morning if not for them."
Qwillis     Qwillis, on the other hand, looks better. Although he's banged up a bit, notibly a scrape along his flesh leg and actual scuff marks on the metallic one. Slowing, he'd spot how Iris and Jackie look and frowns then shakes his head. "Ah.. Hello, Iris, Jackie.. Can I get you something? It seems you had a bit of a rough time.."
Iris Lark     "She's probably gonna need a cool cloth." Iris responds quietly, offering Qwillis a faint smile. "I'll be okay though." She moves to gather some supplies and he eyes fall on Qwillis's leg. "So what happened there?" She asks, tilting her head at him. "You didn't get mugged, did you?"
Jacqueline "Hi, Qwillis," Jackie manages to say, unbuttoning her jacket to get some cool air inside. It was a long, hot walk. The bandaging wrapping around her middle suggests broken ribs. "A cool cloth might help, but no rush. If you need treatment, I can wait, promise."
She looks at him, but Iris already has her question covered, so she just waits for him to explain, if he does.
Qwillis     Qwillis glances down, then waves a hand. "I fell into a ravine, out scavening. I managed to get some resources from there, they sold for a few caps.. but I did get scraped up a bit. It's not that bad though." He'd move further into the clinic, going to get a cloth that he could then soak in some water to cool it off. "You two need to be helped more than me at the moment I think.. hmm?"
Iris Lark     Iris waves that off, chuckling softly. "I just have a few bruises, and Jackie...well..once she gets that cool cloth and a bit of rest she'll be fine. Hop up on a table and let me take a look at your scrape, I'll dress it and then check on her ribs." She pushes her hair out of her face and yawns. "It's going to be a really hot one out there today."
Jacqueline "Sure feels that way," Jackie agrees softly, shrugging off her jacket and lying back on the bed. It takes a couple tries. "With the sun so strong today, bet it'll hit the hundred mark easy."
She unlatches her belt and pants, pulling them open to let in some ventilation, her pink underwear showing as she scoots up a few inches on the bed to get her head onto the pillow. "It wasn't a deep ravine, was it, Qwillis? That must've hurt."
Qwillis     Qwillis smiles slightly and hands over the cloth to Iris. Then he'd move to another bed to hop up onto it and roll up that pant leg. It's a gash just below the knee. Something that bled a bit and looks to have been crudely bound to at least stop the bleeding. "It was a ten foot drop. Sinkhole into this ravine. So I didn't expect it to do what it did.. But, it wasn't too bad. I managed to absorb the impact on my other leg and I got some resources from it to boot." He'd look over to Jackie curiously. "What did you two do anyways?"
Iris Lark     "She has her own storyto tell, I imagine." Iris says, smiling at Jackie. "As for me? I've been jumped out here in Shantytown, and out in the wilds. Seems someone has a grudge or something." She murmurs, dressing and wrapping Qwillis' wound. "It's why I've been in Acme so much."
Jacqueline "Well... it was a long day for me," Jackie replies, wincing faintly at the memory. "I was out scavving, and I ran across some refugees from Mexico who were under attack by super mutants and a centaur. I came to the rescue and blew one away with my shotgun, but that centaur decided to use me for a trampoline. He got my second barrel in the face and rolled off in his death throes. Disgusting things. Between my now-injured self and the refugees, we killed two of the super mutants and sent the rest packing."
She smiles faintly. "Sometimes they're not as stupid as everyone says. But that centaur broke my ribs and bruised me all up my left side and down my left thigh when he landed on me. Fortunately, the doctor was in Acme to work her magic," she adds, with a smile for Iris.
Qwillis     Qwillis frowns thoughtfully at Iris, nodding slightly. "Well.. I'll have to see if I can't find out what's going on there.." He'd watch as Iris tends to the scrape, then looks over to Jackie as she talks about what happen. "Oh dear.. That seems quite intense. I'm glad you weren't hurt even more.. I know I'm certainly not up to that kind of task!" Shaking his head, he'd look Jackie over again, mindful of the waist of course. "If I can help out, just let me know?"
Iris Lark      "If you hear anything, do let me know." Iris murmurs, shooting Qwillis a grateful smile. She moves over to Jackie then and checks her bandages before she puts another layer of salve on her bruises. "I told her she's to take it easy, and I'm counting on you to make sure she listens." She jokes, grinning at Jackie and Qwillis. "I figure a few days rest will do her good."
Jacqueline "'Intense' is one way to put it. 'Intense pain' is what it felt like at the time," Jackie replies. "I'd never had a broken rib before, but I know I don't want another one anytime soon." She tries to push her pants down so Iris can get to her bruised thigh, but bending is still a problem for her, between soreness and her wrapped ribs. Sitting up is actually even harder, now that she's lying down. "Um, Doc? Help?"
Qwillis     Qwillis nods to Iris, rolls down his pant leg and hops off the bed. "I will.." Smiling slightly to Jackie, he'd nod at her words, then glance to Iris. "I can do that. I'll make sure she stays here and takes it easy for a bit.." As Jackie would try to get those pants down, Qwillis would step up to help, careful and surprisingly precise with that metal hand to not cause any further issues as he'd draw the pants down at least far enough to show that bruise to the air. Yep, he's pretending to not see pink panties. Just ignore the slight blush there. "Ah.. should I get another cool cloth..?"
Iris Lark     "Yes please, and if you can...there is some cola in the back, I think we all could use some." Iris responds, trying not to notice Qwillis not noticing. "If you go out and get hurt again soon Jackie, you'll have my wrath, I promise you. You could have punctured a lung with one of these broken ribs!"
Jacqueline Jackie does her best to not notice Qwillis trying not to notice her underwear, but she still has to stifle giggles. Which involves covering her mouth with her hand. Subtle. "S-sure... that'd be great."
She glances over to Iris, a bit stung. "Well, it's not like it was my idea. I couldn't just pretend I didn't see that huge fight going on, and those poor people being hurt. I guess I just need to find better armor, or something."
Qwillis     Almost gratefully, Qwillis moves away to get that next cloth damp with water and cooled off, to be returned to Iris. Pointedly not looking as he'd shuffle on his feet with that dull clink of metal on the ground. "I got lucky.. an NCR gave me this chest piece.. and I found the helmet."
Iris Lark     "I know it wasn't your idea, but damnit, I worry about you." Iris blinks and turns to put away her supplies, a frown on her face. "I'm sorry.." She says, a few minutes later, some of the tension easing from her shoulders. "I worry too much about all of you, and in this kind of..place..nothing good comes from it."
Qwillis     Qwillis would be careful to set that cold cloth for Jackie, then look to Iris. He'd move over to touch her shoulder, smiling slightly. "Iris.. it's not bad to worry about those you care for. This place isn't bad. This place just needs help to help everyone.." He'd shrug slightly. "We all have those who we care about. The bonds make us stronger.. At least, I think so.."
Jacqueline "Oh, sweetie... um, Doc. It's okay, really," Jackie says, wincing as she lifts herself on her elbows to watch Qwillis and Iris both, managing a grateful smile for Qwillis. "I'm sorry I put you through so much trouble. I don't mean to. If it helps, I'll at least try to find a long-range weapon and some better armor. But I can't promise to stay out of trouble. It finds us all so easily out here."
Iris Lark     Iris turns and gathers Qwillis into a quick hug, a sigh easing out of her lips. "The bonds also stress us out more, and it's been a bit of a time lately. People getting attacked, and all this talk about going to Mexico? I'm terrified, I don't want to go, but it almost feels as though I have to, if nothing else - to keep people safe."
Qwillis     Qwillis gets caught by surprise in the hug, but returns it gently enough, hugging Iris back. "Yes. It can be something that causes stress.. That's why we have to keep pushing forward. To make life better. So that everyone can have a better life and less stress." He'd smile slightly with a small shake of his head. "I'm going to go. If I can get a ride.. I may not be able to help with the fighting.. But I cna make sure that the vehicles can both get us in and out." He'd look over to Jackie then with a small smile. "It's probably best to go out in at least groups of two.."
Jacqueline "I do try to do that, but people can't always come. So I end up alone a lot," Jackie admits, lying back down. "But it's part of making things better around here, so I keep going."
She looks between the two of them. "I guess I'll be staying home this time. With these ribs, I'd do nothing but slow everyone down. But I'll wish you luck. If you need anything fixed before the trip, please do let me know. I can still work on small things, even if I can't move so well."
Iris Lark     Iris wrinkles her nose at the thought of going south, but she doesn't say anything more. "I'll keep you in mind if something breaks, Jackie." She promises and she nods to Qwillis. "I can talk to Alice on your behalf if you need a ride down, see if she can spare the room."
Qwillis     Qwillis nods to Iris. "Please.. Otherwise, I won't be able to go. I'm quite happy to share my ability to repair vehicles for passage." Looking to Jackie, he'd smile slightly with a small shrug. "If you're going out.. look for me? If nothing else, I'm a second body out there, hmm?"
Jacqueline "Trouble does shy away from pairs more than singles," Jackie agrees, managing a faint smile in return. "I'll remember to look for you."
Her attention strays to Iris, her expression thoughtful. "Doc... why do you feel like you need to go south? I'm curious." And concerned, though her expression is the only sign of it.
Iris Lark     "People get hurt, and I wouldn't leave a single medic to deal with that alone." Iris mutters, a slightly upset look on her face. "Then again, leaving everyone here without a doctor is the same ill. I'm not sure what is going to happen, honestly, but I'm afraid of the south, very much so."
Qwillis     Qwillis frowns, then finally shrugs. "It's tech. That's the reason to go south.. Potential tech at the facility that'll let us deal with the mutants causing the trouble.. It's a risk. But the reward is there too." He'd smile to Jackie with a small nod, then to Iris. "We shouldn't be gone that long. I'm sure people will be able to manage.. and if there isn't room for me, then I'll keep it going as I can here, hmm?"
Jacqueline "Considering what's come from that way lately, I don't blame you for being scared," Jackie says, giving Iris a sympathetic look. "There are probably more of them down there, too. In a way, I'm glad I'm staying here, though I feel like I'm shirking. I just hope it's a big group, the kind big enough to protect everyone."
She frowns at the mention of tech, looking to Qwillis. "Well... I hope whatever it is is important enough for the risk everyone's taking. It's a big one. That raiding party the militia routed was just a small one."
Iris Lark     "I'll think about the whole thing." Iris says, glancing between them as they speak. She folds her arms over her chest and sighs. "No matter what happens, or who goes, things are going to get interesting."
Qwillis     Qwillis nods solemnly. "It's tech to stop them. All the mutants. End the horde coming north. I'd say that's good enough to attempt it." Shaking his head, he'd look to Iris and smiles slightly. "That's true. It's going to be different, however it possibly goes."
Jacqueline "If it's tech to stop them, I hope this trip works out," Jackie says softly, shutting her eyes for a long moment. She reaches over, trying to clasp Iris's hand and squeeze it reassuringly. "I thought you liked interesting..." she teases gently.
Iris Lark     "I like it when the people I care about aren't in danger, sure." Iris replies, squeezing Jackie's hand back. "I just..it feels like something horrible is going to happen, I can't really explain it. So..we'll just see, right?"
Qwillis     Qwillis muses, then steps up, metal hand gentle on Iris' shoulder and the other going to touch Jackie's arm. "Well.. I'll do my best to see people home. hmm? At the very least, the wheels will be good and the engine ready. We'll have a way there and back.."
Jacqueline Jackie shivers, and squeezes Iris's hand more tightly, even with Qwillis's comforting gesture. "I hope it doesn't. I want you to come back as good as you left, Doc Iris. And it sounds like Qwillis is ready to help it happen." She gives him a smile. "Thanks, Qwillis."
Iris Lark     "I'll take armor if I go." Iris promises, and she takes a seat on a stool, tending her own bruises and scrapes quickly. "Most of our team is in power armor, so ..there is that."
Qwillis     Qwillis smiles to Jackie with a nod in agreement. Then looking to Iris, he'd help her patch up from her scrapes and the like. "Yes.. I just hide behind them really. Safer I feel." He'd chuckle lightly with a shake of his head. "Otherwise.. I'll help how I can.. but ultimately make sure we can leave.."
Jacqueline "It'll definitely help," Jackie says, summoning up a wan smile. She's still worried. "Something between you and the hurty stuff is a good idea... preferably somebody in power armor."
She can't really nod to Qwillis, but she does speak up. "I'd say the expedition's in good hands, then. No point in going if you can't come back."
Iris Lark     Iris gets to her feet and puts some supplies into her bag. "I have to run a few errands, but if you two are around at some point - I'd like to have lunch or dinner, maybe you two can come to Vault Town, there is a few really interesting places to eat down there." She offers both a smile, a blush coloring her cheeks. "Sound good?"
Qwillis     Qwillis steps back a step to give Iris her room to move about. Looking to Jackie, he'd chuckle softly and shrugs. "Ah well, I've not really done any mechanic work since I made my arm.. So I'll have to see. Maybe do an initial checkup on the cars to make sure I can do it too.." He'd muse, shrug, then look to Iris. Smiling, he'd give a small nod. "I'd like that.. I'll help Jackie over there too, so we can be mindful of her ribs..?"
Jacqueline "Thanks, Qwillis. I suspect I'll need the help," Jackie replies wryly, a little embarrassed. "And let me know if any small car parts need work before the trip? It's amazing what can break on those things."
She giggles a little, seeing Iris blush. "Aw... like I'd miss that after you give me that look? I'll be there if I have to find a wheelchair for the trip. Which I might. It can't hurt any more than walking."
