Iris Lark It's just getting light outside and Iris walks out of her front door, takes in the morning with a deep bracing breath and then takes a seat on her porch. Elbows on her knees she gazes around the slightly foggy area with sleepy eyes and yawns.
Rexus Rexus trudges up the road. He's... looking more than a little ragged. There are bandages wrapped about various bits and pieces of his body... leaving a trail of one bandage like a mummy who has escaped from a crypt. He's sort of dragging a bag full of junk and goodies, leaning on a cane with his other hand. He pauses to slump against a building, taking a few more steps before he sloooowly slides down the wall... leaving a bit of blood smeared on the wall as he slumps down to a sitting position. "Think.. i'll just rest here a bit..." he murmurs to himself.
Iris Lark Iris quietly watches Rexus trudge up the road, and one eyebrow quirks as she watches him hobble along the street. When he slumps her head tilts slightly and she pushes to her feet, hands on her hips. "You're bleeding on the wall." She calls out, skipping down her steps and walking over to the ragged man. "So what happened here?" She asks as she gets nearer, kneeing down to take a look at his wounds.
Rexus Rexus has various nicks and holes... bullets, bats and blades... plus general wear and tear. He looks up at Iris, grumbling, "Thank you... captain... obvious..." he states, promoting Iris from Private Obvious it would seem! "Who... ever thought.. gathering.. crap... could end with so many.. holes... in you." he says, trying to hoist up his bag of loot but giving up halfway into the attempt.
Iris Lark Iris places a hand on the only spot she can see on Rexus that isn't a bloody mess, his shoulder, and makes him stay put. "How about you stay still, and I'll do what I can for ..all of this." She shakes her head and lets out a soft chuckle at the captain obvious quote and goes from kneeling to sitting on her calves. She patiently pulls several bandages and other tools from her kit, and after casting another gaze at Rexus, primes her stimpak.
Rexus Rexus is looking quite a bit tired as well as wounded, "Did.. my best with.. what I had." he says, indicating his half-hearted attempts to bandage himself up... probably not easy to do on yourself, like bandaging one hand with the other. "Ran out of tape." he says, another common woe amongst first aiders. "Shoulda seen what they looked like though." he says with a bit of a lopsided grin.. thankyouverymuch swollen lip.
Iris Lark "I'm sure you did very well, you stubborn man." Iris remarks offering him a kind smile as she works first on digging out the bullets. She drops these in the dirt without much concern, patting the bleeding skin with alcohol soaked rags. A few holes need stiches and she patiently works on each wound she finds. One at a time, wrapping, bandaging, cleaning sewing and dressing. She hums as she works and a few minutes pass, the fog starting to clear from the small hamlet.
Rexus Rexus is either too tired... or too stubborn and grumpy to let the pain of getting poked and sewed and stuck with a needle to bother him. "Ooooh that feels nice..." he says as the stimpak goes to work, thank heavens for sedatives! Iris's humming probably helps the lull the big galoot into a dozey state of relaxation, just leaning against the wall as Iris continues her work.
Iris Lark Iris leans in and squints at Rexus. " can't fall asleep on this building, they'll think you're a vagrant." She quietly mutters, pushing at his shoulder. "C'mon now, wake up and talk to me while I finish this." She unwraps the bandaging now, using the fabric to bind up the wounds she's sewn and dressed. "You've got to slow down a bit, you're going to end up dead if you keep pushing at this pace."
Rexus Rexus just relaxes a moment against the wall. "Mmmmm, need a day job..." he murmurs, "Must be someone looking for.. help...." he says, eyes sort of half-lidded.. not quite asleep but boy if he wasn't talking he'd be sawing logs. "Wonder who is hiring..."
Iris Lark "If it keeps you out of god damned trouble, you can mind the general store." Iris mutters, and she leans in again, squinting at Rexus as she frowns thoughtfully. "Where are you sleeping today?" She asks, getting to her feet and attempting (but probably failing) to lug him to his feet as well.
Rexus Rexus lets Iris get ahold of him to take a bit of weight, using his good leg and good arm to do the rest of the lifting and/or pushing. He's not stumbling drunk or anything of that nature just... very, very sore, and tired. "Today? Ummmm.. I was going to sleep in my armor like I always do." he says, evidently using his power armor as a sleeping bag.
Iris Lark "I know you're going to argue with me, but's five steps away, you can park your armor in my yard and sleep on the couch or something, please?" Iris frowns at Rexus and lets out an exasperated sigh. "You're hurt and you need to get a good rest in a nice, comfortable and safe spot."
Rexus Rexus mulls over the options. He doesn't look to be one to argue at the moment, "Alright." he says after a few moments, throwing in the towel.. waving the flag, striking the colors. "Just.. for the night." he says, trying to retain some sense of stubborness.
Iris Lark Iris looks happier almost immediately and she gathers her medical kit and then helps Rexus towards her house. "Thank you for doing this, because honestly if you hadn't I'd have worried all day." She flushes pink for a moment and adds. "I mean, it's not as if I can come check on you somewhere, and know that you'll be there or anything."
Rexus Rexus keeps his eyes on the house in the distance-ish. "There.. any chilli?" he asks, does he have an ulterior motive? He leans on Iris a bit, more to keep himself steady than to take any weight off, favoring his other leg for the most part as he hobbles along, letting Iris set the pace.
Iris Lark "I'm sure there are some leftovers, of a lot of things." Iris says, aiming a sideways glance at Rexus. "I've had some houseguests over the last few weeks. There is a lot of food stored and cooked up, I brought in supplies during the storm." She pats him gently on the back and chuckles. "You can have anything you want, okay? Just don't run off before you feel better?"
Rexus Rexus peers over at Iris, "Houseguests?" he squints. "Opening a hotel?" he teases, ambling along towards the house in question. "I won't be goin anywhere for a wee bit I imagine... think i've earned a break for a few days at the least."
Iris Lark "I help people." Iris says simply, shrugging at Rexus with a smile on her face. "If I wasn't, you'd have a big fluffy bed to yourself, but someone is using the spare room." She sighs and pushes her hair out of her face as they cross the threshold. "I'd give you my bed, but I am just getting to sleep in it again, and I'm selfish ..just a little bit." She flashes him a grin. "The couches are very comfortable though."
Rexus Rexus peers round the interior. "Couch is fine, really anything is better than sleeping in that suit again." he says, mindful of where he steps, keeping an eye out for the little resident piggy. "I don't think i'd do well in a big fluffy, comfy bed.. you'd never get me out of it...." he winks, hobbling his way towards the couch in question. Sweet, sweet comfy couch.
Iris Lark Iris laughs softly and she walks to a linen closet, pulling out several sheets and a comforter. "Well this couch is yours anytime you want it." She says, spreading out the sheets and setting out two pillows. "Honestly, I spent..a long time in a moldy bed roll, so when I first got a bed.." She pauses and looks embarassed for a flash of a moment. "Well..lets just say that it took me a while to get used to the softness of a bed." She points towards the kitchen. "If you get hungry, go hunting in there. You can eat anything you'd like."
Rexus Rexus takes a moment to slowly pat himself down, checking for any bloody bits that might stain the linens. Not finding any, he eases himself down to sit. "Yes.. I'm.. not used to beds either.. used to sleeping on the ground with just a blanket... or nothing at all.. rarely get much beyond that so... this is a massive improvement." he says as he swings his legs about, lying back, adjusting slightly. "See you in the morning?"
Iris Lark "You will." Iris says, chuckling softly as she heads towards the hallway towards the bedrooms. "I live here after all." She jokes and she turns for a moment before she's out of sight. "If you feel like..well it's your body, you'll know if something is wrong. Call for me, okay?"
Rexus Rexus calls out, "Will do." He takes up the blankets, spreading them out over himself and settling in. Just needs a nice fireplace and this would be super, super cozy. It isn't long before his eyes are closed and he is snoozing, he's not a big snorer... which is probably to the benefit of all the other denizens of the house.
