Iris Lark Iris is home from the Clinic and it's nearly sunrise. She's been on her feet for hours and she's still wounded herself. Bandages are still wrapped around her head and her leg and she still has a slight limp when she walks. Right now she's covered in blood, gore and a few other unsavory things. People still need help though, especially her friends, so she is in her workroom, combing through supplies to take to the Clinic the next time she goes in.
Rexus Rexus had arrived a little earlier. It was a long walk, the Clinic was overrun... far too hectic and he didn't want to add to the burdens. Soooo, he found his way to the workroom, where he subsequently passed out on the little table.. just lying still till Iris returned... nice, comfy table.. perfect for sleep.
Iris Lark Supplies dealt with for now, Iris turns her attention to the man on the examination cot. She manages a yawn and blinks a few times before she uses some of the clean boiling water that soaks the bandages for tea. Once she's slightly more awake she prods at Rexus, taking a wary step back until he wakes up. She's dealt with people who wake up with knives in hand before, and she's nothing if not wary. She takes a sip of her tea as she waits, her eyes lidded with weariness.
Rexus Rexus is not quite that jumpy. He's fairly docile, like a big bull chewing its food. "Nngh.." he grumbles, slooowly rolling over to face the direction from which he was poked. "No pokey..." he grumps, one ye opening to peer at Iris, letting the room get into focus before sitting up on the cot.
Iris Lark Iris takes another drink from her tea and without responding to the grumps she simply goes to work, checking the shoddily bandaged wounds. "Laser burns hmm?" She says, pulling an aloe salve from a high shelf and opening it. She sniffs it to make sure it's fresh and then starts to spread it across each wound before she dresses them. "I swear you live for danger."
Rexus Rexus looks down at his injuries. "There was a lone caravan guy in the wastes... Enclave patrol was attackin him... I fended them off.. Vertibird and all.. this is what I get." he says with a bit of a chuckle, wincing at his wounds are healed. "At least the laser helps to cauterize.... no?"
Iris Lark Iris gazes at Rexus and then after a moment or two she adopts a vapid look to her face and bounces up and down, clapping her hands and cheering. She flutters her eyelashes and smiles at the same time, a high girlish giggle escaping her lips. "My hero!" She squeals, clasping her hands to her chest. She holds that pose for another half minute before her features go back to the normal impassivity that she shows to the world. "Really though? I'm glad you were there for them, and yes..the wounds would be worse if they were fired from a gun."
Rexus Rexus looks a bit surprised at the sudden explosion of giddyness. "Eh...." he doesn't sound terribly convinced, right up till she returns to usual sterness and impassive. "Ah.. there we are." he teases, looking down at his injuries. "But no more.. now that.. things are getting serious, can't be off doing other things, have to save my strength and my ammo for the siege."
Iris Lark "As long as El Dorado is a large thriving place, there is always going to be someone who wants to do it harm." Iris notes, capping the salve and putting it away. "Hopefully not everyone takes your point of view. People walking the waste is the only reason I'm still alive right now. I'd have bled out otherwise." She runs a hand through her auburn hair, wincing as she feels the bandage near her temple. She leans against the cupboard and folds her arms over her chest. "Other than ..well all of this.." She gestures to the bandages on Rexus. "How are you?"
Rexus Rexus shrugs, "Alright. I worry about these little villages.. if everyone focuses on El Dorado... well.. what happens when these little areas get attacked? Or they may be left behind... either way.. i'm not sure how safe it is out here for these folks."
Iris Lark "I'm not leaving Avalon." Iris says, her eyes slightly narrowed as her shoulders tense up a bit. "I'll help the big city, but this is my home now. My first real home." She looks as if she's about to cry and she turns to look out of the sole window in the room. She mumbles under her breath for a few moments.
Rexus Rexus shakes his head, "Well if El Dorado falls.. this won't be your home anymore." he murmurs. He stands up, getting a feel for the bandages, least he's able to stand up straight for once. "I don't know where I fall in to all this.. but I imagine they'll be needing me on the walls and leading their patrols before too long."
Iris Lark "You do what you need to do, and I will. It will take a hell of a lot to get me out of Avalon." Iris says, glancing over her shoulder briefly at Rexus before she sighs and gathers her supplies, putting them in her rucksack. "Go back to the city, take care of business, but do try not to undo my work, alright?"
Rexus Rexus heads for the door. "I have to help the most I can.. there are far more in El Dorado... there's only a handful here in Avalon... can't be everywhere at once." he says as he departs for the long walk to El Dorado.
