Iris Lark Iris is pushing things into cupboards and cleaning. She's put off cleaning for a while. She the broom gets its use and then she wipes down the tables, the counters and the cupboards. She's dressed for it, barefoot and smudged here and there with dust. She waits for Rexus to get back from whatever errand he's run off on, figuring it would be a good time to look at the wounds underneath all of those bandages.
Rexus Rexus was just off to do some.. well wandering around, picking up a few things he needed at the store. Nothing too too serious as he ambles into the house. "I'm hooooome." he calls as he enters the living room. Hearing the shuffing and such from the workroom, he heads in that direction, peeking his head through the door. "Helloooooo?"
Iris Lark Iris is still a bit skittish in general, and she's not completely used to having someone in the space with her. She nearly jumps out of her skin and turns to gaze at Rexus with slightly wide eyes. One hand is over her heart and she lets out a huffing breath. "You scared the crap out of me, come on in here, I want to take a look at those bandages on you. Sit, sit down." She murmurs quietly, shoving her dust rag into the bag of dirty linens.
Rexus Rexus trundles into the Workroom, pausing to steal a tiny little kiss against Iris's cheek as he takes a seat where directed. "See that's why I tried to announce myself loooong before I arrived... I ought to wear a bell..." he smirks, stretching out. "Things are starting to heal up a bit... slowly but steady.. followin Doc's orders and not stressin or goin out lookin to get shot.. again...."
Iris Lark Iris gazes up at Rexus and when he bestows a kiss on her cheek, she grins and her cheeks go pink for just a moment. She starts to unwrap his bandages, pulling the linen off slowly so she can take a look at each wound. "I don't think you need a bell, honestly, if there is one person who I don't mind being a little frightened by, it's you." She steals a look at him as she pours alcohol into the water. She bathes his wounds slowly, checking for infection and finding none.
Rexus Rexus gets comfy, looking down at the wound. "Yeah.. it's not too bad.. just a bit stiff.... and sore." he murmurs, looking up at Iris with a chuckle. "I'll have to keep that in mind..." he says mischieviously. "Thought about putting a little fence around your garden at all?"
Iris Lark "No, do you think I'll need one?" Iris asks, looking up from the wound treatment to gaze at Rexus. "Because if you do think so, I ..guess I can hire someone to help me build it." She frowns as she thinks about the materials she'll need. "Oh, you'll keep that in mind?" She laughs softly and starts to salve and rewrap the wounds. "I'm glad you'll keep it in mind."
Rexus Rexus shrugs, "Might be an idea, keep the critters away from eatin the veggies before they ripen... or.. certain little piglets who might get their snout into things they shouldn't." he says with an overly emphasized WINK WINK. "Nah, I can build it.. just need some sticks... nails.. rope... fences are easy." he shifts slightly as the wounds are redressed. "Mmm hmmm, don't worry, i'll only keep it in mind for nefarious purposes."
Iris Lark "Oh..oooh." Iris murmurs, frowning as she considers what could happen. "Nefarious purposes indeed." She murmurs, moving a bit closer after she's done wrapping his wounds. She wraps both arms gently around him and leans in to give him a gentle hug. "Can we build the fence together, do you think?" She nearly whispers, seemingly happy to just stay where she's at for a moment or two.
Rexus Rexus puts an arm about Iris and squeezes lightly. "Well that was the idea." he chuckles, "Be a fun little project to do." he considers, "Even Bacon can help!" he smiles, gingerly trying to lift Iris and settle her into his lap.
Iris Lark Iris glances towards the back door, a slight smirk on her face as she's lifted onto Rexus's lap. "I don't think a piglet can build a fence, in fact, I'm almost positive that all he'll do is knock it over, or worse." She shifts a bit and gingerly pushes away the rolling table with a foot. "If you think it's fun to build a fence and farm and get dirty - well, I have great news for you."
Rexus Rexus gently wraps both arms about Iris, snuggling her close. "Mmm hmm.. he can be our moral support." he nuzzles against her neck playfully. "Well it would be fun to build together.. and who cares if we get a bit dirty.. all part of the fun. Farming.. well... nice to be able to grow things yourself and eat what you grew."
Iris Lark "He's great at being moral support." Iris admits slowly, smiling at Rexus as she takes one of his big hands and wraps both of hers around it. "So you like to farm, and build things, and you enjoy getting dirty and manual labor. I like knowing more about you, and you've never said too much." She ducks a bit and grins at Rexus, both eyebrows raised slightly. "So tell me more."
Rexus Rexus blinks at that. "What? Well i'm not a farmer.. gardening isn't farming really.. I mean it's a much smaller scale... and easier." he says, "And building... well.. there's a difference between building a fence and a house, the small handyman sort of work is fine, a good hobby." he sagenods. "I am alright at cooking.. simple stuff mostly... I could never do a fancy pie or cake or.. a big big dinner."
Iris Lark Iris soaks it all in, listening as he pretty much gives her a simple verbal resume. She squeezes his hand and grins at him, nodding along with his words. "I'll cook, that's no problem. I just want you to know that you don't have to do anything with the farm, or build a fence. I'm touched that you want to though." She leans in and gives Rexus a gentle kiss on the cheek. "You're a very nice man."
Rexus Rexus laughs, "Oh I don't mind at all. I'll do all the heavy lifting and manual labor bits." he ponders, "I'll need to find some overalls and a farmer's hat.. some boots... a bit of wheat to put in my teeth... like in the pictures." he snickers, "And i'm sure we can come up with a funny scarecrow..."
Iris Lark "Uh oh, the rest of Avalon has finally caught up with you and now you're going to be dressing up too." Iris murmurs, pretending to look dismayed as she stifles a bit of laughter. She slips off of his lap and raises her arms over her head, stretching a bit. "The visual in my head is more than a bit silly, but..you'll make it look good?" She asks, grinning as she takes a step back, and then another.
Rexus Rexus just licks his lips, trying to keep his eyes upwards but... when those arms lift up and he catches a glimpse of tummy, he just grins. "Oh? Silly am I?" he rises to his feet, loping towards Iris with slow steps, like a big oaf. "You just want to sit in the shade and drink iced tea and watch me get all sweaty and tired in the fields! Hmmmm?"
Iris Lark "I can get one of those fancy pre-war dresses, and a parasol and really do it up." Iris teases, turning a silly pirouette as she pulls the pins from her hair and shakes it out. "Sip some iced tea, be generally lazy. Something I haven't had the opportunity to do for over twenty years." Rexus starts to give chase and she edges to the door, laughing as she moves. "You can't corner me, you know." She murmurs, still grinning as she sidles towards the door.
